The Straight Talk, Restored Brecks Victor Warranted Axe - Todd Roeth

The Straight Talk – Restored Straight Haft Felling Axe.

Marked 3 lb. on the bottom of the poll, and embossed with the Brecks Victor Warranted mark on it check, this New England pattern axe is an uncommon make and has been rehung on a 36″ straight haft made of American Hickory. Information is limited on the origin of the brand of axe; my best guess is that is was forged for Joseph Breck & Sons, Boston Mass. – a farm implement company founded in 1818 in Boston Massachusetts and in operation into the 1900’s. Joseph Breck was the editor of the New England Farmer, one of the earliest agricultural and farm magazines established in the U.S.
