I had the good chance to meet up again with Samantha Crain at the Boulder Theatre this month and meet her new band – the Cat Calls. They opened for Langhorne Slim, making the lineup a pitch perfect evening. The power trio of women provided a spunky show and anchored on Samantha’s fine fettled voice.
Their presence on stage and back stage harkened me back to a slightly earlier era when strong women wrote strong songs about stories hard to live but easy to listen to. (Read: the venerable Dolly Parton, The Judds, Linda Ronstadt).
