Setlist – Photo Exhibit

I am going to go and print some of my portraiture work big and hang it on a wall at Brooks Institute’s Visions Gallery in Ventura California. This show is being produced by my friend, scholar, and gentlemen, Jesse Groves.

I’ve edited a collection from images at lookat.toddroeth.com. The printing is being handled by the mega-Master Printer Terrance Reimer at West Coast Imaging.

I’ve worked to capture in still (and silent) photography some of the musicians whose work – and way of working and living I admire. These images aim to show these artists outside of their music, and in a way that most people don’t get to encounter.

My comrade Sean Porter is working to help me create a mobile phone interface so those who visit the exhibit can experience these portraits and then listen to their music while in front of the photograph. I’ve always believed that photography is a language. So too is music. I want my vision of these people to be shared, compared and perhaps contrasted to viewer’s understanding of the subject’s music.

They say seeing is believing; hearing is feeling. If you’re in Ventura this summer, come take a look and listen. June 10 – August 5th, 2010 at The Visions Gallery, Ventura CA, USA.
